Lab Technician
The Opportunity
Proteoform Scientific is seeking a full-time Lab Technician to join our team. Based in our headquarters and laboratory facilities in Halifax, NS, this is a unique opportunity in the growing proteomics sector.
Reporting to the Senior Scientist, the Lab Technician will work collaboratively with internal teams in a results-driven environment.
We are seeking a junior level candidate with hands-on experience that will participate in quality assurance programs and research and development activities in our laboratory.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out and document a range of experiments and lab duties, including sample preparation, quality control evaluation and troubleshooting assays. Ensure that all data is properly recorded and assessed. Identify incidents and non-conformances; escalate as appropriate.
- Perform routine bench work according to established methodologies and procedures.
- Create research summaries in multiple formats, including spreadsheets, PowerPoint presentations, graphs, and standard written summaries.
- Participate in the maintenance and calibration of equipment.
- Ensure lab cleanliness and safety by maintaining equipment and technician attire, and keeping all samples properly labelled and stored. Maintain a clean and organized workstation.
- Be comfortable reading and summarizing scientific literature.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Scientist.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
- An M.Sc. or a B.Sc. combined with hands-on lab experience or a diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology.
- A minimum of one year of experience in a life sciences, biotech or pharmaceutical organization is an asset. Some experience in handling protein samples is desired.
- Good safety knowledge and comfort around hazardous chemicals.
- Experience using standard lab equipment, including micropipettes, spectrophotometers, and centrifuge.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and statistical software.
- Strong interpersonal, communication (oral and written), and time management skills.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.

Research Scientist

Proteoform Scientific is seeking a full-time Research Scientist to join our team. Based in our headquarters and laboratory facilities in Halifax, NS, this is a unique opportunity in the growing proteomics sector.
Reporting to the Senior Scientist, the Research Scientist will work collaboratively with internal teams in a results-driven environment.
We are seeking a mid to senior level candidate with hands-on experience that will participate in quality assurance programs, research and development activities, and serve as a science and proteomics resource to support customers and prospective customers in various stages of product evaluation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Senior Scientist in managing the Company’s laboratory facilities as well as projects and activities within this environment, including:
- Participate in developing and executing work-plans that specify a clear approach and timelines for achieving assigned project objectives.
- Provide scientific and technical interpretation and inputs for project teams.
- Participate in managing an ongoing quality assurance program for all Proteoform Scientific products, including:
- Performing protein sample preparation processes and protocols and interpreting results to ensure quality standards are being met.
- Designing and executing troubleshooting experiments.
- Provide scientific recommendations to continuously advance and improve the Corporations’ current and future products.
- Contribute to product lifecycle management and new product discovery, planning, and development.
- Participate in writing scientific reports and prepare content for presentations and publications including scientific posters, user guides, FAQs, and application notes for both academic and commercial streams of the proteomics community.
- Assist in documenting and responding to science and product questions from Corporation employees, customers, prospect customers and industry partners.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by the Senior Scientist.
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
- An M.Sc. combined with significant work experience or a Ph.D. in analytical or protein chemistry, proteomics, genomics or related field.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a life sciences, biotech or pharmaceutical organization. Proteomics industry experience would be considered an asset.
- Excellent knowledge base in protein chemistry, molecular biology, and mass spectrometry.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and writing skills are essential.
- Ability to prioritize, organize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic emerging growth environment.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
